This project incorporates my reflection upon growing up playing string instruments while being born in an only-child and single-mother family, and the connection between these two facts. For most of the time there would be only my mom and myself inside the same domestic space, which leads to a strong bilateral relationship and lots of conflicting moments. I remember she especially disliked my voice of talking when I get a rising tone once losing control of emotion. Also I would be the one who stood on a table to change the light bulb as soon as I could.
Here I mapped different types of conversation with musical intervals and physical distances, and built a non-site-specific string instrument with the use of household elements(electricity wires, lamps) while different human movements and lighting will cause varied effects on them. The installation is activated by a duo performance during the exhibition.
